Nothing is necessarily “wrong” with pharmaceuticals. Pharmaceuticals help some people deal with some of the symptoms of PTSD, but they are not very effective and they come with serious potential side effects. Giving pharmaceuticals to someone with PTSD is like giving aspirin to someone with diabetic neuropathy- it might help the pain a little, but it does nothing to address the underlying problem and it has serious potential side effects. Most of my patients have been able to reduce their use of pharmaceuticals and many of my patients have been able to eliminate pharmaceuticals entirely.
